– HUMANITY has become a suicide cult

Ever since I can remember I’ve been drawn to living in the countryside, or near the sea. So much so that for most of my adult life I have managed to find a way to achieve this. The only problem has been, so has everyone else. The human race has been so busy spreading its poisonous self far and wide, that whenever I think I have found a place to avoid people they suddenly want to be there too. After which all that unique ecology gets tamed and uprooted, and I have to pack up and move on again.

Looking back on those unique places, which have now become monocultures, their natural diversity lost to serving the needs of tourists, makes me feel very sad. How deluded we have become to think we do no harm.

Not surprising though, when those who control our education system and media work so hard to convince us that this is the way to behave, that regardless of what we do there will never be any repercussions, things will always remain the same. Take the seasons for example. We are told that there are 24 hours in a day, seven days in a week, twelve months and 365 days in a year, with a Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. Yet anyone with the slightest awareness of how the natural world actually works, will know this is simply not true. Nothing ever stays the same. Nature is in a permanent state of flux, as it responds to what is happening around it. This has always been the case, ever since life began, as a fireball. So with each new day our Sun is getting weaker, other planets exert their influence, the magnetic core of the Earth may change in polarity, and the molten liquid around it cool further. All of which affects the way the planet revolves, which in turn affects everything else, including time and the weather. On top of all this there is us. Growing in numbers at a faster and faster rate, and destroying the ecology at a corresponding alarming speed. Other species respond to this by adapting, by finding new ways to exist in the ever changing conditions, or become extinct. We, however, have decided to ignore all that and place our trust in religion and science instead. In fact we must be the only species in the Universe who has consciously made the decision not to evolve.

Call me an old sceptic, but how is indoctrinating everyone to have more and more children, to spend as much as they like, helping anyone? Have we really become that naïve? Look around you. Is the world a more diverse and beautiful place because of us? Are we happy? Are we living longer and healthier? No we most certainly are not. We have not only managed to wipe out most of the other species, with our greed and selfishness, but apart from the extremely wealthy, most of us are in a constant state of sadness, depression and feeling disenfranchised. We suffer more from illness, treat others badly, and react far more aggressively than ever before.

If you don’t see the world like this, then ask yourself. How do I react when I meet someone now for the first time. Do I make snap judgements based on their gender, sexual orientation, accent/ birthplace, nationality, skin colour, religion, having children or not, politics, class, intelligence, disability, diet, age, infirmity, where they live, how they live, addictions or mental illness?

Because if you do, then you are either unaware of how the planet really works, in denial about the need to keep it doing that, or totally selfish. Failing to treat everyone (and that includes all other species) as unique and equal is not a natural response. This is what social engineering has done to us. Made it okay to exploit others, make them the target of our jokes, scapegoats, something to discriminate against, hate, bully or worse. This is why we feel justified in letting our armed forces kill others, to abuse people of other nationalities, farm animals for food and destroy our physical environment. So those who rule over us can profit from it all.

Which is very sad, because religion and science are patently not having any success at preventing disease, hurricanes, flooding, drought, pestilence, starvation or extinction, especially of our own species.

If we truly want to have a better life, if we want there to be a future for us and our families, then we have to reject their ideologies and use what little time is left to try turning things around. Starting with not encouraging others to procreate. Spending less money on things that really don’t matter. And treating everyone and every other living thing as we would want to be treated ourself. Establish an equal right to exist.

The first two are easy, the last one not so. For this to work we need to change the way we think when we use language. For example, the use of pronouns like she, he & it. These exist simply to encourage us to make judgements, find differences, split people (and other species) into categories. For example, if you met me for the first time, your first impression would probably be he’s white, english,middle-class and a pensioner. Yet none of those tells you a single thing about me the person. They are all stereotypes, labels. The real me, this unique individual who has spent the last sixty-eight years having amazing experiences, which in turn have helped show me how the world really works, and gave me a passion to find ways to help it, exists beyond mere labels. So, if you really want to describe or get to know someone, then look deeper, explore the vast depth of their individuality (whatever their species). And if we all do this in future, with everyone we meet, then the world will definitely become a much happier and more diverse place to live.

  1. Hello Phil,

Ever since we met online, Facebook back in 2019, when you were selling the property in south Spain and I was interested in seeing it. I have enjoyed very much your life philosophy and so much of what you say is so true now days. I appreciate your fortitude, your understanding of man and the world and how we are going in the wrong direction and accelerating at a greater speed, I think that once humans finally exterminate each other, nature and the animals will enjoy a few centuries more of true happiness and harmony with the environment, that’s if we don’t destroy all the elements necessary for Flora and Fauna to thrive.

Anyway, I always enjoy getting your letter and look forward to them, I know that some of it is not the ideal world that we would want, but maybe some people, young people out there are taking notice and its opening a window of opportunity to do better environmentally and in many other ways to be better humans to each other.

Stay healthy and keep on the great story of yours, know that we out here look forward to them.
